My Musical Journey
I grew up in New England, singing from a very early age. I was classically trained and sang in choirs, but I had no idea I would one day start writing songs until I learned three chords on the acoustic guitar in my 20s. It wasn’t until moving to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, that my heart opened to folk, bluegrass, and country music.
The harmonies and stories of those songs became the soundtrack of my life. My husband and I began touring the country, performing concerts and recording albums, and eventually started a family. We even spent a year traveling the U.S. by car with our two young children, singing and visiting with family, friends, and strangers. Talk about great inspiration for songwriting!
Sharing music at the Jackson Hole Hootenanny and festivals around the West showed me the powerful community connections music creates. After years of touring the country and releasing seven acclaimed recordings, the Anne & Pete Sibley duo won first place in the Great American Duet Sing-Off on A Prairie Home Companion, hosted by Garrison Keillor.
Music has the power to heal, and I’ve been so grateful to share my voice and my own songs with audiences for two decades now. Writing songs from my heart and sharing them with audiences all over the U.S. has been a priceless gift. It has made my songs better and my creative commitment even stronger.
I’ve lived a creative life and understand the blocks we face, as well as the rewards we receive for showing up in our creativity. Turning to songwriting coaching has been a special new chapter in my life! Now I help people become songwriters who can write from their authentic voice with less self-judgment.
Anne lives in Carmel, California, with her family, passionately creating music, performing, recording, and helping others discover the power of their own songs.
